WHO YOU ARE:

Teton Ridge is seeking a skilled Transmission and Ingest Operator to ensure the seamless delivery of live broadcasts and digital streams across multiple platforms. In this critical technical role, you’ll monitor and manage the quality of video and audio feeds, oversee ingest hardware and software, and troubleshoot live feed issues in real time with remote production teams.

You’ll play a key part in the success of our live event coverage—routing signals, managing stream schedules, and maintaining broadcast continuity for both linear and app-based channels. If you’re detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and passionate about delivering high-quality live content, this is your opportunity to contribute to a fast-moving team at the forefront of Western sports and entertainment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Monitoring video workflows:

  • Maintain video and audio functions and ensure the integrity of the origination of multiple, simultaneous feeds.

Managing ingest equipment:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of specialized hardware and software used for capturing and processing incoming content, including encoders, decoders, and media servers.

Quality control:

  • Monitor outgoing and return feeds, communicate with 3rd-party vendors at remote locations to troubleshoot signal quality issues, and maintain the on-air presence of the linear channel and app-based streams.

Stream scheduling and coordination:

  • Implement and operate reliable video solutions that capture, process, and deliver video content from any source, in any format, to any destination in the most efficient manner possible and communicate this plan to other departments within the company.

Troubleshooting issues:

  • Diagnose and resolve any technical problems that may arise during the ingest process, including network connectivity issues, codec conflicts, or file corruption, and escalating problems as and when required.

Asset tracking:

  • Coordinate the logistics of ingest equipment via multiple delivery methods, track returns and report any issues during the process.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Associate's degree in broadcast technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a transmission operator, video engineer, or similar role in a broadcast environment.
  • Familiarity with specific broadcast equipment used in the industry.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of broadcast transmission systems and protocols.
  • Familiarity with video and audio routing, encoding, and decoding technologies.
  • Understanding of digital media formats and standards.
  • Experience with broadcast automation systems.
  • Ability to operate various transmission equipment like encoders, decoders, and signal monitoring devices.

Operational Skills:

  • Monitoring incoming video and audio feeds for quality and errors.
  • Routing live signals to appropriate destinations.
  • Managing transmission schedules and coordinating with other departments.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and resolving problems promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate logs and documentation.

Communication Skills:

  • Clear and concise communication with colleagues, engineers, and production teams.
  • Ability to effectively report issues and escalate problems when necessary.
  • Good listening skills to understand and follow instructions accurately.

Personal Attributes:

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Teton Ridge we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
